Scrounging for Food

I've discovered, through necessity, that scrounging around in the house for whatever is around and usable or needs to be used results in better and more interesting food than meal planning all the time. Certainly there is a primary place for meal planning, because if you aren't shopping for something then you have nothing to scrounge in the house. Until now my emergency recipes have been pretty much forgotten, but I want to keep a record of them all, if only for myself.

Past scrounged meals have included:

Roasted Root vegetables with dried cherries and crystalized ginger salt with cashew/peanut/pumpkinseed butter -

...made from a bunch of root vegetables in the crisper, a bag of dried cherries I had picked up at costco for no reason, and a sauce made from mixed nuts I had lying around. The crystallized ginger was already in the morter and pestle when I put the salt in it.

Olive tapenade with sun dried tomatoes

...all I had in the house was a big jar of olives, sun dried tomatoes, and saltines. I recipe rouletted this one.

Lemon, shiitake mushroom, and parmesan cheese pasta
...to die for. This was also found via recipe roulette.
